The Montguyon area


Situated in the southern part of the Charente-Maritime, where the regions of Bordeaux,  Périgord and Cognac meet, the township of Montguyon consists of 14 communities: Montguyon, Saint Aigulin, Boresse et Martron, Boscamnant, Cercoux, Clérac, La Barde, La Clotte, Le Fouilloux, la Génétouze, Neuvicq, St Martin d’Ary,Saint Martin de Coux  and Saint Pierre du Palais.

On foot, bike or horseback, you have all the ways to discover the great diversity of landscapes in the southern part of the Saintonge region: the woods of Double, the valles of the Dronne, the Palais or the Lary, the blue lakes and the vineyards. 




The many lakes and rivers are a delight for lovers of fishing and swimming . Several mills and washhouses are located alongside our streams. Water is present everywhere in our area.

The architectural and historical heritage: Dolmens, burial mounds, medieval castle, feudal mound, Romanesque churches and chapels and half timbered houses speak of a rich past, as well as the museum of trades and popular traditions.



Our local products:

Pineau, Cognac and other farm products such as foie gras, poultry, honey will satisfy the most sophisticated palate. To be discovered directly at the local producers or when strolling around the many colourful fairs and markets.
